What do the words on this page mean?
Polarised A filter inside the lens that cuts the harsh glare bouncing off roads, water, car bonnets and glass, rather than just dimming everything. The difference between squinting on the drive home and not. Worth it if you drive. You may see faint rainbow patches on a phone screen — that is the filter working, not a defect.
UV400 Blocks every ultraviolet ray up to 400 nanometres — which is all of them, UVA and UVB. This is the number that actually protects your eyes. Dark lenses without it are worse than no sunglasses at all, because your pupils open wider behind them.
Gradient lens Darker at the top, lighter towards the bottom. Shades your eyes from overhead sun while letting you still see your phone clearly.
TR90 A flexible, memory plastic. It bends instead of snapping when the frame gets sat on or crushed in a bag, and it is light enough to forget you are wearing it.
Tortoise / demi The mottled brown-and-amber pattern. Every piece is slightly different, so your pair will not match the photo exactly — that is the point of it.
Frame width The full width of the frame, hinge to hinge, in millimetres. Compare it with a pair you already own — the number is usually printed inside the arm. Within about 9mm either way will sit comfortably.
